Description
P-51B Razorback - "Razorback" was a term used for model -B and -C P-51 Mustangs. So called because the high fuselage behind the pilot resembled the profile of razorback wild hogs in the southern U.S. The bubble canopy replaced it in later models. It's removal improved visibility to the rear. The new bubble structure was molded *plexiglas, and it expanded outwards at the top and sides. This increased the headroom, and provided increased visibility to the sides as well.
*Other trade names for this kind of plastic are: Acrylite, Lucite, R-Cast, Optix, Perspex, Oroglas, Altuglas, Cyrolite, and Sumipex.
