Description
Rocky Point in Lake Superior at the Great Marsh (Grand Marais) Minnesota - Lake Superior (Ojibwe Gichigami, or Gitche Gumee as Longfellow called it), largest of the Great Lakes, is a vast body of water. Minnesota's North Shore extends into Ontario providing spectacular scenery like this rocky point. Typical of northern Minnesota and Canada, jagged rock is the main feature of lake shores. The region, long home to native Indian tribes of the Chippewa (Ojibway), is near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Northern woodlands growing along the lake also called taiga, or boreal forest, has a short cool summer and (a very) long cold winter. The area is popular with tourists and provides outstanding wilderness experience year round. Painted in gouach opaque watercolor, done on recycled (fibrous) card stock. (Commercial License Available)
